Prayer times, quietly done
Hijaz gives you the day's five times, a notification before each one, the qibla direction and a single tap to mark a prayer as prayed. Nothing else. No account to make, no feed to scroll, no server that knows your name.
Hijaz is in final testing. This page will carry the download link the day it is approved.

Five things, done properly
Every feature runs on your phone. There is no back end to be slow, to go down, or to keep a record of you.
- 01
Prayer times you can trust
Fajr, sunrise, dhuhr, asr, maghrib and isha, computed on the device from your coordinates. Twelve calculation methods including Diyanet (Turkey), Muslim World League, Umm al-Qura, Karachi, Egypt, ISNA and more, with Shafi/Hanafi asr and a high-latitude rule for northern cities.
- 02
A notification at the right minute
A quiet alert at each prayer time and, if you want one, a reminder a set number of minutes beforehand. Notifications are scheduled locally by your iPhone — they arrive with no network and no push server. Hijaz ships a short original chime rather than a muezzin recording.
- 03
Qibla compass
The direction of the Kaaba from where you are, corrected from magnetic to true north. If the device has no usable compass, Hijaz still shows the bearing in degrees for your city.
- 04
One tap, then a streak
Mark a prayer as prayed with a single tap on the home screen. Hijaz counts the days you complete and shows the streak — gently, with no badges to chase and no one to compare yourself to. The day turns over in your city's own time zone.
- 05
Ramadan, imsak to iftar
During Ramadan the home screen becomes a countdown to imsak and then to iftar, and the fasting log keeps the month's record for you.
Your data stays yours
This is not a policy we are promising to honour. It is how the app is built: there is nothing on our side to store anything in.
- No account. Nothing to sign up for, no email, no phone number.
- No server. Times, qibla and streaks are computed on your iPhone.
- No analytics, no tracking SDK, no advertising identifier.
- Your location is used on the device to calculate times and is not transmitted to us.
- Your prayer log and settings live in the app's own storage on your phone and, if iCloud is on, in your own iCloud — never with us.
- This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics script.
One honest exception: if you buy Pro, Apple handles the payment and our purchase library (RevenueCat) processes a purchase identifier so the app knows you paid. The privacy policy explains exactly what that involves.
Free where it matters
Prayer times, the notification and the qibla compass stay free forever. Pro keeps the app going without ads: monthly or yearly, cancel any time.

Questions
If yours is not here, write to us — a person reads every message.
Which calculation method does Hijaz use?
Twelve are available. Hijaz picks a sensible default from the country of the place you choose — Diyanet for Turkey, for instance — and you can change it whenever you like, along with the asr madhab and the high-latitude rule.
Do the times match my local mosque exactly?
Usually to the minute, sometimes not. Every timetable is a calculation with a chosen angle and rounding, so different authorities legitimately differ by a few minutes. Pro lets you nudge each prayer by minutes so the app matches the calendar you follow.
Does it play the adhan?
No. Hijaz uses a short original chime and your iPhone's notification sound. We do not ship a muezzin recording, because those recordings belong to the people who made them.
Does it work without giving location permission?
Yes. If you would rather not share your location, pick your city from the list and everything — times, qibla bearing, Ramadan countdown — works from that.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. Times and the qibla direction are astronomy and geometry; your phone can do the arithmetic on a plane, in a basement, anywhere.
What happens to my streak if I change phones?
When you are signed in to iCloud, your streak, prayer log, fasting log and settings sync through your own iCloud, so they come back after reinstalling the app or on a new iPhone with the same Apple Account. That copy lives in your iCloud account under Apple's terms; we cannot see it and keep no copy of our own.
A prayer app that stays out of the way
No account, no feed, no notifications about anything other than prayer.
